Sabre Holdings Corp. (ticker: TSG, exchange: New York Stock Exchange) News Release - August 14, 2000
Selection Based on Implementation of Sabre BTS and Corporate Travel Cost Savings for Honeywell of Projected $4 Million FORT WORTH, Texas - Sabre Holdings Corporation (NYSE: TSG) today announced that the Honeywell Travel Planner Team has received the prestigious "Quest for Excellence" Vision Award in recognition of its successful implementation of the Sabre BTSâ corporate travel management system. In addition to reduced travel agency costs, Honeywell also recognized five percent airfare savings by employing a proactive measure, monitor and adjust statistical model to fully harness the power of the Sabre BTS system. The project is on target to deliver $4 million in savings over a two-year period. The Honeywell Travel Planner Team was selected in part because of its support of Honeywell's company-wide e-business transaction initiative. The team succeeded in reaching a company-wide adoption rate of 56 percent in the second full month of implementation, far exceeding the goal of reaching 50 percent by July 2000. The high adoption rates were achieved by a variety of creative methods including travel arranger incentives. Other implementation techniques included familiarization sessions in person or via a Sabre BTS web session, a video presentation from Honeywell's CFO and a favorable transaction fee for booking reservations on-line. "We are committed to helping our customers achieve their goals," said Scott W. Smith, senior vice president and general manager of Sabre BTS. "The Sabre BTS deployment team worked very closely with the Honeywell implementation team to quickly integrate our travel management system with Honeywell's corporate systems. Sharing our best practices developed from hundreds of implementations is a critical component in providing our customers with a complete travel management solution."
