Perfoalca avoids costly downtime, fees by depending on Timken and Timken authorized distributorCARACAS, Venezuela, Jul 15, 2003 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Timken and Comercial
Oriental, an authorized Timken distributor, recently combined efforts to
provide Perfoalca, an oil drilling company in Zulia State, Venezuela with
replacement bearings in less than 24 hours. The bearings, which were for a
hoisting engine, were recommended for replacement upon inspection by Petroleos
de Venezuela (PDVSA), a global energy company located in Venezuela.

"The bearings needed to be replaced due to normal wear and tear after many
years of service," said Mariela Garcia, spokeswoman for Perfoalca. "PDVSA, one
of our customers, required that the bearings be replaced immediately to avoid
a penalty fee. Each store we phoned either did not have the part number in
stock or could not ship in less than 48 hours. When we contacted the Timken
sales office in Caracas, they helped us locate the bearings at Comercial
Oriental, which had them in stock and ready to ship immediately."
The bearings were shipped and installed within the deadline set by the
PDVSA, resulting in less downtime and no penalty fee for the Perfoalca
facility.
"The Timken(R) bearings Perfoalca was replacing were nearing their end of
useful service and so Perfoalca, once again, turned to Timken," said Nelson
Santos, regional sales manager - Timken Venezuela. "We were able to meet
Perfoalca's needs immediately due to outstanding teamwork between our
distributor, Comercial Oriental, and our Timken sales offices in Caracas and
Boca Raton, Florida. This kind of teamwork allows us to solve problems quickly
and bring value to all parties."
