The New York Times today introduced TimesSelect, a new product
offering subscribers exclusive online access to the distinctive voices
of the Op-Ed, Business, Metro and Sports columnists of The New York
Times and the International Herald Tribune (IHT). It also features
enhanced access to The Times's extensive archives, advance previews of
various sections, and new tools for tracking and storing news and
information important to the reader.
The vast majority of NYTimes.com will remain free to all visitors.
TimesSelect subscribers, however, will have exclusive access to 22
columnists of The Times and the IHT, including online dialogues with
Thomas L. Friedman, Paul Krugman and Frank Rich; an exclusive online
book club with John Tierney; and special features by David Brooks,
Maureen Dowd, Bob Herbert and Nicholas D. Kristof.
In addition, subscribers can retrieve up to 100 articles a month
for free from The Times's extensive archive. TimesSelect also offers a
wide array of content and tools including Times File, Times Preview,
and News Tracker. TimesSelect is priced annually at $49.95 or monthly
at $7.95, but is available to home-delivery subscribers at no
additional fee. New subscribers will be offered a two-week free trial
period upon registration.

The Columnists - Access to some of the most influential and
insightful columnists writing today, including Op-Ed columnists David
Brooks, Maureen Dowd, Thomas L. Friedman, Bob Herbert, Nicholas D.
Kristof, Paul Krugman, Frank Rich and John Tierney; Sports columnists
Dave Anderson, Harvey Araton, William C. Rhoden, Selena Roberts and
George Vecsey; Metro columnists Peter Applebome, Dan Barry, Clyde
Haberman and Joyce Purnick; Business columnists Gretchen Morgenson,
Joseph Nocera, and Floyd Norris; and IHT columnists Roger Cohen and

Many of these columnists plan to enhance their connection to their

economics and international finance and will entertain

The Archive - Easy and in-depth searchable access to The Times's
extensive archives initially dating back to 1981, and eventually to
1851.
Multimedia Exclusives - Special audio, video and photo essays from

Times File - A new tool that helps readers save and organize

Times Preview - An early look at articles that will appear in the
following sections: Real Estate, The New York Times Magazine, Travel

section will be featured. Two Times Preview e-mails will be sent:

News Tracker - An e-mail alert service that enables readers to
track topics important to them. This successful product is currently
sold separately but will be included as part of TimesSelect. Existing
