(Nasdaq:NSIT) ("Insight Enterprises" or the "Company") today announced that its
Insight Direct Worldwide, Inc. ("Insight") operating unit is acting to close its
facility in Germany.
The closure is expected to be completed by December 31, 2001.
The decision was based upon the Company's intention to focus its European
efforts on the United Kingdom due to the recent acquisition of Action plc and
the historical operating losses in Insight's German operations. "The acquisition
of Action plc makes Insight the fifth largest reseller and the largest direct
marketer of IT products in the United Kingdom, and we are committed to
capitalizing on our increased presence in this market by focusing our
investments and management efforts in the United Kingdom," commented Timothy
Crown, Chief Executive Officer. "We feel it is not in our stockholders' best
interests to continue losses in Germany while we direct our resources almost
exclusively to the United Kingdom operations," Crown concluded. The Company will
take a non-recurring charge, including potential impairment of goodwill,
severance costs and liquidation of assets, relating to the closure in its Q4
2001 results.
