BALTIMORE, July 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Constellation Energy
(NYSE: CEG) today announced the donation of a state-of-the-art weather station
to the Living Classrooms Foundation, a Baltimore-based education outreach
organization which engages students academically through experiential
learning.
The new Living Classrooms Constellation Energy Weather Station will be
used as a teaching tool by the organization's Crossroads School, providing
on-demand information such as temperature, wind speed and barometric pressure.
The weather station, which has been placed on the tower of the school's East
Harbor campus on South Caroline Street, will allow students the opportunity to
learn how to track storms and other weather activity.
"This is yet another opportunity for Constellation Energy to make a
meaningful contribution to the educational efforts of the communities in which
we live and work," said Stuart Rubenstein, chief operating officer of
Constellation Power Source, a subsidiary of Constellation Energy. "This
donation will provide students with an enhanced understanding of the dynamics
of weather and its impact on our daily lives and is a natural extension of our
relationship with Living Classrooms, particularly Constellation Energy's
mentoring efforts at The Crossroads School."
The Living Classrooms Constellation Energy Weather Station will permit the
company to expand its mentoring activities. Currently, employees of
Constellation Energy provide ongoing academic support to 10 students at The
Crossroads School.
"This weather station is tailor-made for the kind of learning that Living
Classrooms provides for young people," said Scott W. Raymond, vice president
of Living Classrooms. "The station offers the type of practical, hands-on
learning that enhances the educational experience for students at The
Crossroads School. Constellation Energy deserves credit for establishing this
learning partnership with our students."
Other examples of experiential learning at Living Classrooms includes the
planting of bay grasses in the Chesapeake, restoring wetlands near the Inner
Harbor, and repairing sailing vessels and lighthouses.
